Óðinn var konungr í Ásíalandi. Hann var vitr maðr ok margkunnigr, ok hafði hann spádóm þann at hann vissi at nafn hans myndi upp haldast í norðrhluta veraldarinnar. Hann tók þá ferðina með mikinn her norðr.
Óðinn was a king in Ásíaland. He was a wise man and versed in many arts, and he possessed the prophecy that his name would be held in honour in the northern parts of the world. He then set out with a great host northward.
