Óðinn kunni þá íþrótt er mestr máttr fylgði, er skáldskapr heitir. Hann kunni rúnar ok galdra. Hann mátti skipta líki sínu, ok mælti hann jafnan bundnu máli. Hann reisti hof mikit at Uppsölum ok blót þar at fornum sið.
Óðinn mastered the art that carries the greatest power, which is called poetry. He knew runes and incantations. He could change his shape, and he always spoke in verse. He raised a great temple at Uppsala and made sacrifices there in the old manner.
