Bragi explains the poetic designations for ships. The ship is called the horse of the sea, the deer of the wave, and Naglfar, the vessel built from the nails of dead men that will carry the giants to the final battle.
The ship may be called the horse of the sea or the deer of the wave. It is likened to those animals that walk on land, and this is considered finest in poetry. Naglfar is the ship built from the nails of dead men.
That ship will arrive at Ragnarok, filled with giants. For if a man dies with uncut nails, he adds material to Naglfar. It is therefore advised to cut the nails of dead men.
