The gods built the halls Glaðsheimr with twelve thrones for the twelve gods, and Vingólf for the goddesses. Gold was plentiful until three giantesses arrived from Jötunheimr.
They built there a hall called Glaðsheimr, and in it were twelve high-seats and one high-seat for the chief god, and so twelve seats for the gods. That hall is the finest and greatest on earth. They built another hall called Vingólf, and that was the dwelling-place of the goddesses.
Þat var ár gull, ok í þann tíma lék allt rautt gull til þess er þrjár þursar meyjar kómu þangat ór Jötunheimi. Þá fór at ganga gullöld í goðanna heimum.
It was the age of gold, and at that time everything shone with gold, until three giant-women came thither from Jötunheimr. Then the golden age in the worlds of the gods came to an end.
